Along the voyage you also get several great chapters on carbonate chemistry. The text is fairly dry and the book can sometimes feel a little dated, although only in a stylistic sense (that is, it's lacking in pretty color pictures and software application examples). Overall, I prefer this text to Stumm and Morgan's (heresy, I know) for the thoroughness of Pankow's mathematical treatment. I think if you want to really understand a
