DESCRIPTION:
He presents their own stories and their own thoughts in the same way.. When Louis Hagen returned to Berlin after the war, he wanted to see what had happened to the people. He selected 9 people he had known before the war - 4 Nazis, 3 collaborators, 2 non-Nazis - and interviewed them at length
"A series of striking and extraordinarily well-written life-stories they are often monstrous, but about their authenticity there can be no doubt." Observer
GREAT BOOK katya This book was the most comprehensive depiction of wartime Germany I've read to date. A must have for any student of European history.. This book appears to be the real thing. A Harvey Hill This book appears to be the real thing. A set of 9 interviews shortly after WW2 with individuals the author actually knew when he was growing up in pre-world war 2 Germany. His efforts to cross-check their claims gave me confidence that the stories are accurate. I found the experiences described were often not attractive but authentic.
