An underrated composer Martin Kuskis Josef Suk (1874-1935) was Dvorák's pupil and son-in-law, and the teacher of Martinu among others. He was not a particularly prolific composer but most of his works are of high quality, and the Fantasticke Scherzo is no exception. This is a totally delectable ten-minute work in a light-hearted mood, with propulsive rhythms and a gorgeous recurring theme in the violoncelli.This Serenissima score is a reprint of the Breitkopf & Härtel edition of around 1905.
