DESCRIPTION:
Good background of theory on the practice of sampling! Marie Coignet I used this book in my sampling methodologies class in college and to this day I still keep it in my office library to use as a reference because it explains assumptions and thoroughly goes through every type of sampling necessary and possible for studies. I highly recommend this book if you are . "Real world sampling" according to Jess. This textbook thoroughly explained the different methods and techniques used to sample a population or populations. It used explanations, examples and problems at the end of each chapter to help explain how best to calculate different variables like mean, variance, sample size etc. I would defini. "Excellent book" according to nkenn. I used this book for a Sampling Techniques class my senior year in college (B.A., Statistics). I thought this book was excellent. Very straightforward, comprehensive collection of Sampling formulas and methodologies. Includes good explanations of basic concepts behind different types of sampling
Sampling methods are integral to the design of surveys and experiments, to the validity of results, and thus to the study of statistics, social science, and a variety other disciplines that use statistical data. Yet most of the available texts on the subject are either quite advanced and theoretical or too applied, descriptive, and lacking statistical results.Sampling Methodologies with Applications offers a balanced, practical treatment of the techniques and applications of the commonly used procedures for sampling from finite populations. In an easily followed, step-by-step presentation, the author motivates each topic with illustrations followed by examples and exercises. It keeps mathematics to a minimum, but
