Excellent Arthurian Story I got this book for my German literature class focusing on Arthurian legends. This particular story focuses on Wigalois, the son of Arthur's nephew, Gawain. The story is translated from the original German poetry into English. Wirnt von Grafenberg gives us a wonderful view into 12th century chivalry and what is expected of a knight. The story begins with the journey of Gawain and later focuses on the many adventures of the titular character and all that he has to accomplish. I really recommend this story to anyone interested in the Knights of King Arthur's court.

The Arthurian verse-novel Wigalois, written by the German knight Wirnt von Grafenberg in the early years of the thirteenth century, tells a story which was well known in the medieval period, appearing in eight versions of four languages. The translator's introduction compares Wirnt's work with other treatments of the Wigalois material in France, England, and Italy; discusses the German sources and reception of the novel; and offers a careful literary analysis..
