Michael Allen said wouldn't recommend this book to ANYONE serious about the Catholic faith. I ordered this as a kindle book to help my daughter prepare for first communion. There is VERY LITTLE information about the meaning of the Eucharist and focuses mainly on the attire for the event. Particularly for girls. The purpose of the book becomes clear on the last page explaining it is created by a company that sells special occasion dresses and accessories called alittleindulgence with Tracy Young as president and self-proclaimed "Chief P. Heavy on the "pretty dress", light on true meaning Pros: It did remind me to buy tights and bobby pins. It was mildly entertaining to my daughter to read the first part (the part for children)Cons: The content is mostly about the dress and accessories. I got this for my daughter to read about the sacrament of Communion, and there is no info in here about that.Another con: the illustrations and story are more geared for a 5 year old, not a 7-8 year old (age of most girls making First Communion). . "A great way to open the discussion about the meaning of the first communion" according to Mary P. Beaubien. My granddaughter loved this charming book--particularly identified with the little girls' answer about the meaning of communion--they all answered "the pretty white dresses"--great lead in to the discussion about the real meaning, as detailed in the book but elaborated upon by all of us--a nice choice for a special time in her life.
