Henry David Clarke said hilarious play, strong characters, and a poignant look at the AIDS crisis. I've had the good fortune to perform Congden's work and to teach it. Dog Opera stands as one of her very best. The main characters are well drawn, and their relationship is poignant and hilarious. The play captures a moment in the zeitgeist, and because of its specificity is at times dated, but that specificity is a great strength to the story and the comedy. Good fun. Good play.
