"Show was better than the book" according to MR. TIMMONS. Watching the series was better than reading the book, but it was a nice read that gave some actual insight into the late Victorian age in a small village.. "Lady Godiva on the cover?!" according to Wm F Powell. The content of the book is well written and enjoyable to read. The quality of the book as a physical object leaves something to be desired. The Lady Godiva painting on the cover is inappropriate and just plain odd. The text formatting is unappealing; the binding and paper feel cheap. Purchasing this book as a gift is not recommended.. Cynthia L. McNew said I cannot understand why the cover of this book shows a representation of Lady Godiva, naked.. I own a Kindle edition of this book and greatly enjoy it. I wanted to buy a paper copy for Mother's Day, but I cannot understand why the cover of this book shows a representation of Lady Godiva, naked. This has nothing to do with the text; while I'm sure it's a fine painting, the nudity distracts and detracts from the text, and I don't think it's a good idea to buy it for my mother. Why this cover?
