Margaret Farley has crafted an intricate and profound point-of-view in the ever important and growing discussion of Christianity and sexuality. I enjoyed that Farley looked at multiple cultures for their views of gender and sexuality and even provided historical information for Christianity along with adapting the ideas of Michel Foucault for her work. "thoughtful book on touchy subject" according to Julie Balamut. Dr. Farley's book is carefully written and convincingly argued. As a Catholic moral theologian in these times of limited theological discourse especially on matters concerning sexual ethics, I give Dr. Farley major credit for taking on this subject with honesty and courage. The book provides a wide range of historical evidence on many religious traditions regarding sexuality and she builds to the promise of the virtue of justice based on the human condition in regard to love, most importantly, . I'm glad I read it I'm glad I read it, because it made me think, although wading through all the background information and philosophical references got tedious at times.
