The art is not only beautiful and raw, but the writing is just as well done. Through this book, Ethan Young gave voices to the victims of the Nanjing Massacre, a brutal and overlooked chapter in WWII. It gives a somber reminder of war's indiscriminate nature, but does not put out the flickers of courage of those with the fighting desire to survive and yearn for their honor and morality.
