KBieb said A fun read. I really enjoyed reading this book from Tom Barber. It had plenty of action, likable heroes and detestable villains. There were some events that were pretty far-fetched but saying that about a book in this genre is like saying that a handful of trail-mix has some nuts. Duh, right? There were a few times when something was just a little too coincidental or when after someone did something I wondered "why didn't they just do X" but it never really kept me from enjoying the story. This book made me think I was watching one of those old movies where the Brits along with the obligatory American were sent on a mission to get behind the enemy lines. However, this book the ARU (Action Response Unit) was tasked to take down nine terrorists who are hell-bent on bring destruction to the free world. The story took us on a ride from Riyadh to Paris to London along with parts unknown. I could go on and on about this boo. "Not a bad first book for an author" according to James R Crabtree. Not a bad first book for an author. It was more of an ensemble cast rather than a Sam Archer book. Without his name in the title I would not have guessed he was to be the main protagonist. Although I recognize that the author does not speak American English as a main language, it would be nice if he used a proofreader/editor who did so that Americans in his books wouldn't sound so phony.
