"Easy and simple reference" according to Jack Tan. I have used this book frequently for reference and found it handy and easy to understand. However, I always complement it with Good Word Guide, Usage and Abusage, and The Right Word at the Right Time - A Guide in English Language and How to use It (Reader Digest) for a comprehensive understanding. The size of the book made it handy for travel reference. The only shortcoming of this book is that it tend to be rather brief and have fewer examples compared to the other reference books that I used to as complements.. "review" according to David M. Hagler. Book arrived promptly as promised. Excellent condition. Excellent packaging. A thoroughly satisfactory transaction. Five stars to the vendor and my thanks!. A Great Reference Book for Writers There are many questions about grammar that a writer encounters. Often those questions are not addressed in the standard writer's reference books. This book has been the mainstay of writers for nearly a century. It has been updated recently to include and reflect computer references and changes in our ever-evolving language. It also indicates differences in American and British English usage, which is great. It's a hefty volume that won't really fit in your pocket, but it is a super reference I recommend every writer have on
Updated with the use of the Oxford English Corpus, a database of over two billion words, and with up-to-date entries on the language of emails and the Internet, the new edition answers your most frequently asked questions about language use. This invaluable reference work offers the best advice on English usage, drawing on the unrivalled resources of Oxford's English Dictionaries program and language monitoring. Real examples are drawn from classic and contemporary literary sources, newspapers and magazines, and the Internet.Pocket Fowler's Modern English Usage, Second Edition
