DESCRIPTION:
Titanic's Last Secrets is the never-before-told story of the Ship of Dreams, a contemporary adventure that solves a historical mystery.. Chatterton and Kohler weave their way through a labyrinth of clues to discover that Titanic was not the strong, heroic ship the world thought she was and that the men who built her covered up her flaws when disaster struck. If Titanic had remained afloat for just two hours longer than she did, more than two thousand people would have lived instead of died, and the myth of the great ship would be one of rescue instead of tragedy. After rewriting history with their discovery of a Nazi U-boat off the coast of New Jersey, legendary divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler decided to investigate the great enduring mystery of history's most notorious shipwreck: Why did Titanic sink as quickly as it did?To answer the question, Chatterton and Kohler assemble a team of experts to explore Titanic, study its engineering, and dive to the wreck of its sister ship, Brittanic, where Titanic's last secrets may be revealed.Titanic's Last Secrets is a rollercoaster ride through the shipbuilding history, the transatlantic luxury liner business, and shipwreck forensics
It's all very well done but leads at times to a loss of overall focus. Instead the ship had broken in half while almost horizontal and gone down before most of the passengers knew what was happening. Ed Weichsler said Titanic's Last Secrets: The Further Adventures of Shadow Divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler. I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read. I'm sure that there are aspects of it that will challange the thinking of many "rivet counter". When all is said & done, I believe this is a 'must include' in any Titanic student's the personal library. Well worth the purchase!. M. Strong said What's here is fascinating, but it's surprisingly thin.. I'm fascinated by Titanic and loved Shadow Divers, so a book about the main players from Shadow Divers looking into the Titanic disaster looked like a sure winner. That's not entirely the case. This isn't a bad book, but it under-delivers on its premise badly enough to really undercut its credibility. The book starts with the idea that John Chatterton and Richie Kohler may have found something revolutionary about Titanic and ends with the discovery of evidence that leads to new speculation about how Titanic may have sunk. The work done by Chatterton and Kohler is fascinating, but it doesn't a. Miserable. Frank H. Deutschmann I'm just a reader who has a general interest in things technical, and diving and the Titanic; unlike several other reviewers here, I have no financial interest in any of this other than as a dissappointed reader (and purchaser!) of this book. The first part of this book, relating the missteps and successes of a mission to find out something new about Titanic, is relatively interesting and definitely well told: it's a fun and engaging read. Unfortunately, while lots of space is devoted to the tale of the expedition, the new theory regarding the sinking is poorly explained, and there are no il
