"A Sterling Presentation" according to Raphael A. Riccio. Pun intended in the title. This is another of Gabrick's information laden truck histories, and is well done. Sterling was one of the smaller truck manufacturers, and like many others, faded away during the post-war period. The badge has been resurrected, basically by slapping it on the Ford heavy-duty truck line, although the whole merger and corporate identity business is much more complicated than that. Acquired by the White Motor Company in 1951, Sterling-White production ended in 1953. Established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, production of Sternberg trucks began in 1907, becoming Sterling in 1915. Distinctive engineering hallmarks included wood-lined frames and the continued use of chain drive long after its abandonment by other manufacturers.
