Published in three parts in 1794, 1795, and 1807, it was a bestseller in the United States, where it caused a short-lived deistic revival. The Age of Reason; Being an Investigation of True and Fabulous Theology is a pamphlet, written by a British and American revolutionary Thomas Paine, that challenges institutionalized religion and the legitimacy of the Bible, the central text of Christianity. "As Timely - Nay, as NEEDED - Today as it Was Back Then!" according to Anne P. Mitchell. I'm assuming that if one is looking at reviews of the Age of Reason, they already know what it is about, and are looking for information about whether *this* edition is a worthy candidate. So, let me say right up front: yes, it is. :-) This is an excellent version of this classic. Some may not know that Thomas Paine wrote at least part of the Age of Reason whi. "Systematic and enlightening" according to Jamaal Gervais. It was a little hard to really absorb the earlier parts of the book. Being familiar with the Old Testament will aid the reader in understanding the importance of some of the events recalled in the text. I am a lot more familiar with the New Testament so the contradictions he proposed were understandable and nearly irrefutable(for me). It was a great read!. Time to look again at Thomas Paine This is one of the more rational reviews of religion that I have ever read. Given that is was written by one of the most influential of our country's founders, it merits a new reading.
