. Even so, Northcutt and Quayle (Embrace the Serpent, Crown, 1992) weave a taut tale of political suspense that most libraries will want to purchase.Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc. As Grant, a popular conservative black Christian senator, begins his own investigation to clear his name, he uncovers a vicious smear campaign motivated by revenge and political insecurity and involving foreign conspiracies and corrupt politicians at all levels. From Library Journal When Washington reporter Russell Frederickson is murdered while covering the Senate reelection campaign of Georgia Senator Bob Grant, Grant unexpectedly finds himself the prime suspect. The power of the novel is undercut by awkward and simplistic racial and political stereotypes
