Les Eldridge brings a lot of knowledge, imagination, and a gift for good narrative together in a well-told story of two friends who must take opposite sides in war, set against a backdrop of actual events and people. He must have done a lot of research to get the settings so right, but the main char. A good idea, but poorly executed anon I got this book as a present, so I read it without knowing anything about the author or reading any reviews. Seeing it get 5 stars on amazon was quite a shock to me, as I found it to be a very poorly written novel. Apparently this is Mr. Eldridge's first novel, and it shows.The writing style is choppy and boring, making it hard to keep going.
