New Series by a Great Author Jill's Line Had the chance to read an ARC of a great new book by Paige Shelton. It is called The Cracked Spine and is hopefully the first of many in a new series. The main character Delaney has just received her walking papers from the museum she works at in Kansas. She comes upon an ad offering a job that promises to take her places while sitting behind a desk (there is a more accurate description in the book, but I leave that for you to read). The job is in Scotland and within minutes of inquiring about the job, she receives a call from the owner . I was skeptical but I got over it I included this in my survey of books either written by Scots or about the Edinburgh / Glasgow area, both fiction and non.I was a bit skeptical starting out because the main character, in first person, seemed a bit self-absorbed and the premise a bit fantastic.But eventually Shelton delivered the goods in both getting us around, in and out of shops and pubs, introducing us to characters, and also staged an adequate who dunnit.
