Noah Lacked a Sensitivity Chip This review will contain SPOILERS!As I continue to read all of Grace Burrowes' books - those I've previously read and some I have not, I decided to purchase this book. Although there were elements of the book I enjoyed, the story seemed to go on and on and on without enough progress in Noah's and Thea's relationship to suit me.Big Issues: Noah Winters needed a wife. When the young deb he had chosen cried off, he decided her companion, Thea Collins, would do just as well. Thea's in a really tight spot since she and her younger sister are dependent upon a young brother for their livelihood. Their brother. don't waste your $ The whole story was based on the 'bride' not coming to the wedding night a virgin. She was raped at a house party but her husband didn't care other than acting like he had been sold a bad horse! Didn't matter that he wasn't a virgin. would not have bought the book or even read it with that 'type' of story line! didn't like anyone in the book no compassion to the characters, everyone believed the worse in each other. Don't waste you $. A great read! Interesting story with lots of different smaller tales within. Kept my interest til the end. She creates interesting and real characters!
This book is warm, touching, emotional, sexy, and had me staying up reading into the wee hours. Is His Grace courting a convenient wife, or a beautiful disaster?Praise for Grace Burrowes:"Burrowes has a knack for giving fresh twists to genre tropes and developing them in unexpected and delightful directions with consistently excellent writing, deep and layered stories, and intelligent and compassionate characters." -Publishers Weekly"Warmth, sensuality, and humor infuse Burrowes' writing." -Booklist"Burrowes continues to captivate and enchant!" -Fresh Fiction. Noah Winters, Duke of Anselm, exercises the pragmatism for which he's infamous when his preferred choice of bride cries off, and her companion, Lady Thea Collins, becomes his next choice for his duchess. Lady Thea's mature, sensible and even rather attractive-what could possibly go wrong? As a lady fallen on hard times, Thea doesn't expect tender sentiments from His Grace, but she does wish Noah had courted her trust, lest her past turn their hastily arranged marriage into a life of shared regrets
