"Amongst some of the world's finest folklore literature."  —Scots Magazine

John Gregorson Campbell was one of the most outstanding folklorists working in Scotland during the 19th century. This extensive collection on Scottish mythology and culture is written in an anecdotal style and also examines general superstitions and the beliefs and rituals of the traditional calendar.. Based on materials that he had gathered in the 1850s and 1860s, this engaging record is an introduction to a galaxy of fairies, witches, ghosts, and supernatural creatures
