Well, I guess I needed to get this one read so I could know where these characters came from. It started off very oddly. But, once explanations were provided and some relationships could be developed it worked a lot better for me.I was actually impressed with just how much of this story has made it in the following reboots of the team. Scenes from here have been copied in later runs in the comics as well as animated versions.I can see why it's considered a classic.. Steve said The Definitive Teen Titans. In the 1980's The New Teen Titans became DC's answer to Claremont's X-Men. This wasn't the first time the Titans got a book (hence the word 'new' in the title) but it's the first time the team really hooked readers and became a staple of the DC universe. Understand, this is not a book who's value rests soley in its historical significance. It's not like some older books that just don't hold up by today's standards. Both artistically and writing-wise, this book still very much holds up and is an excellent read. I say this as someone who has never read these stories before.
