As a parent that has had to participate in multiple due process cases for my son with autism, and who has had to fight for our families IDEA rights all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, I have to say that this is the best book that I have found to explain the administrative hearing process. Cuddy goes into the entire process, including important insights into the individuals involved in that process; parents, advocates, parent attorneys, school district attorneys, etc. There are separate ch. Jason Sterne said Excellent resource for parents. Andrew Cuddy is a very experienced practitioner of special education law who really knows his stuff. As I am a special education attorney myself, most of the material in the book is not news to me, but most parents of disabled children will find the ample and accurate information very helpful. Mr. Cuddy definitely has strong opinions, and he pulls no punches in displaying his contempt for many school district attorneys and administrators. If you want an alternative to Cuddy's approach This is not the only parent guide out there for going to due process pro se (without a lawyer): Dorene Philpot's "Do-It-Yourself Special Education Due Process: An Educational Guide" (quite affordable at her website), and the Pennsylvania Office for Dispute Resolution (free).
