Michener is an obliged referent, but then the author enjoyed the chance of being aboard a US aircraft Carrier in the sea of Japan during the conflict, as a war correspondent, which inspired him to write the book. The account. Skylark said Wild Blue Yonder. It's unfair to compare this Korean War novel with Salter's The Hunters, because, well, who can match his precise, spare prose? But, that said, too much of this novel reminded me of the film made from Salter's book, which took many liberties from the original. I was also reminded of another movie, The Bridges at Toko Ri that incorporated some of the same r. Very good fly ing and love story combined. Carri Hoagland I chose this rating because as a female pilot who is single it had a certain sense of passion of love and aviation. It was exciting and also very touching.
