DESCRIPTION:

Kid-friendly hack job Aliens is one of my favorite movies, and I easily watch it once a week. So when the opportunity came to read the novelization, I was looking forward to it. What I'd hoped for was an extension of the screen version. Insight into the characters' motivations and inner thought processes. The hinted at - but never revealed in the film - machinations of Burke, Ripley's battle between terror/survival/revenge when facing her worst nightmare, and some more backstory on the Marinesnot just Hicks but even the ones whose screen time was every so briefand perhaps the alie. David E. said I didn't care for it. The book isn't as dark and gritty as the universe in the films. You are talking about creatures that quite literally eat you from the inside out and then mercilessly butcher everything in sight. I found the lack of swearing actually pulled me out of the experience, what group of marines in a combat situation wouldn't be swearing? It just didn't feel "real" and I didn't really care for it, I will admit I got about half way through and just didn't have the drive to read beyond that as reading it felt more like a chore.. Good read Follows the movie closely. Lots of action and suspense. I hope that Aliens never becomes a reality. We might lose.
