DESCRIPTION:
Some darkness some brilliance This is a difficult collection for me to review. I found many of her poems exceeding dark and somewhat esoteric. Others, I found to be brilliant. The poems, Three Women, are my favorites. I found myself reading them more than once. Those who enjoy poetry should read this book.. "Slim volume of Sylvia Plath's poems, ones not seen" according to Kathleen Collins. Slim volume of Sylvia Plath's poems, ones not seen much. She saw the dark side of life. In "Thalidoimide," she describes birth defects. Sylvia lived in England where this drug was allowed (also in Canada):"knuckles on shoulder blades the /faces that/shove into being"Many of these poems wound up in "Ariel." Amazon is selling it at a low kindle price. The manuscript shows how she wanted her poems in a certain order. Her husband, poet Ted Hughes, did not follow her wishes, but now the original manuscript has surfaced. "Ariel" won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetr. Beautiful Lady Reader's Bookstuff Plath knew how to write the most beautiful yet heartbreaking words. I am still utterly obsessed with them and not sure that I will ever find anyone that can/could describe life the way that she has. Sylvia Plath's was a horrific tragedy and one that I won't soon forget.
