Ad Hoc Wireless Networks (paperback): Architectures and Protocols (Prentice Hall Communications Engineering and Emerging Technologies Series from Ted Rappaport) Excellent Book This is an excellent book on ad hoc wireless networks. The first four chapters of the book gives the reader a good solid introduction to wireless LANs and cellular networks. Chapter 5 is a very good introduction to ad hoc wireless networks. It clearly explains and motivates the reader about ad hoc networks. The chapter on MAC layer protocols is wel. A Great Book to read according to Giorgos Pasxos. DESCRIPTION:

Practical design and performance solutions for every ad hoc wireless networkAd Hoc Wireless Networks comprise mobile devices that use wireless transmission for communication. The book starts off with the fundamentals of wireless networking (wireless PANs, LANs, MANs, WANs, and wireless Internet) and goes on to address such current topics as Wi-Fi networks, optical wireless networks, and hybrid wireless architectures. They can be set up anywhere and any time because they eliminate the complexities of infrastructure setup and central administration-and they have enormous commercial and military potential. Coverage includes:Medium access control, routing, multicasting, and transport protocolsQoS provisioning, energy management, security, multihop pricing, and much moreIn-depth discussion of wireless sensor networks and ultra wideband technologyMore than 200 examples and end-of-chapter problemsAd Hoc Wireless Networks is an invaluable resource for every network engineer, technical manager, and researcher designing or building ad hoc wireless networks..

He has co-authored four books, including WDM Optical Networks (Prentice Hall PTR).B. MANOJ is an Infosys doctoral student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. C. As a Senior Engineer at Banyan Networks (India), he designed and implemented real-time protocols for voice over data networks.. He holds a Ph.D. S. His research interests include parallel and distributed

"A Great Book to read" according to Giorgos Pasxos. I needed a thorough introduction to Ad-Hoc Networks, and I discovered this great book. It is very well written and interesting to read. Moreover it covers fully the subject with great detail. I really enjoyed reading it.I would suggest this book to those who would like to enjoy a telecom book and be welcomed to the Ad Hoc technology. The introducti. "A great collection of the diverse approaches to wireless networks" according to Matthew J Farley. This book has been a great resource for me while working on proprietary wireless networks. Over the years, nearly every approach to managing wireless networks has been tried. This book covers many of them with the analysis that is often missing from other treatments.

Now, there's a book that addresses every major issue related to their design and performance. The book starts off with the fundamentals of wireless networking (wireless PANs, LANs, MANs, WANs, and wireless Internet) and goes on to address such current topics as Wi-Fi networks, optical wireless networks, and hybrid wireless architectures.
