great book The book is very well written with lots of extracts from Carrington's diaries and letters. The book reads like a story though. And it is a very interesting and touching one. I also liked the organisation of the book expecially the index where you can find every piece of information that you forgot as you finish the book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes art and stories about power of love.. "A very good biography" according to moviefanatic. I read the whole book , so it had to be good. Full of interesting people, a bit of art history and technique, unrequited love here there and everywhere, the lightest blue eyes that made one think of a witch's eyes, famous friends, poetical plot, adventures, illustrations, pictures, written very well, question oneself after reading it, regarding her death, and visit by the Wolf. Try it, you'll like it.. Patricia Riley said Carrington biography. After seeing the wonderful film "Carrington" starring Emma Thompson, I wanted to read a biography of this interesting woman artist. I found this book on Amazon and read it with great interest. It is well written and covers a lot of detail about Dora Carrington's complicated social and love life. As with many biographies of artists, there is not much detail about her development as a painter nor her methods of approaching a subject and executing it. As an artist, I am always more interested in that sort of detail more than the artist's social life. However, there are many reproductions of photos and paintings in the book.

Hopelessly in love with the noted writer Lytton Strachey, she achieved notoriety by killing herself shortly after his death. She was a woman who made a vivid impression on those she metshe was portrayed (or caricatured), for example, in novels by Wyndham Lewis, D. H. Her work is new represented in major collections worldwide.. The author has done a wonderful job of conjuring, and Dora Carrington’s story is vivid and moving.” Meg Wolitzer Here is an absorbing biography of the English artist Dora Carrington, who called herself simply "Carrington". A talented painter, living a bohemian life, Carringt
