From the New York Times bestselling author of Speaking in Bones, the first Temperance Brennan novel in the “cleverly plotted and expertly maintained series” (The New York Times Book Review). Her life is devoted to justice—even for those she never knew.In the year since Temperance Brennan left behind a shaky marriage in North Carolina, work has often preempted her weekend plans to explore Quebec
Dr. A first-class writer, she dazzles readers with sensory imagery that is apt, fresh, and funny (e.g., "fingers felt cold and limp, like carrots kept too long in a cooler bin"). . When a grinning skull is planted in her garden, her investigation turns personal and escalates to an intense and satisfying conclusion. Except for imparting an excess of lab information, Reichs, also a forensic anthropologist, drives the pace at a heady clip. From Library Journal A superb new writer introduces her intrepid heroine to crime fiction. It's clear to Tempe that the remains of several women killed and savagely mutilated point to a sadistic serial killer, but she can't convince the police. Terrible first book of a series Loves RPGs I'm sorry, but I couldn't make it more than a few dozen pages into the story. The writing is very poor, with too much attention paid to irrelevant details and not enough work done on sections that were obviously important. The characters were all unlikable, and none of them seemed capable of carrying on a decent conversation. The men are stupid, stubborn, boorish oafs or mere background noise. The women are obnoxious jerks who can't seem to stop insulting any- and everyone, or they're cardboard cutouts. The main character supposedly relies on being logical, yet she seems more than willing to g. Intriguing Debut Novel I'm fascinated by adaptations, and even though this isn't a strict adaptation linking novel-to-television-show, I looked forward to reading the inspirational source for the successful television series 'Bones'. Kathy Reichs demonstrates her scientific expertise, which is no surprise considering her background in forensic anthropology. The plot of 'Deja Dead' is compelling, and the forensics is fascinating to learn about. However, there are some flaws which I expect are ironed out in subsequent novels. Those flaws center primarily around suspension of the reader's belief (evidence indicating th. Slow paced; half written in French language I was very disappointed with this book. I am a HUGE fan of the TV show "Bones". When I first found out a long time ago that the show was based on the books by Kathy Reichs, I knew I wanted to read the books because I love to read and I love this genre. The first thing that really bothered me was how much the french language was used in this book. It is set in Canada where french is the more prominent language. So much of the book is spent with the main character translating what people are saying in french. I dont know why it isnt just written in English to begin with. The other thing I didnt
