DESCRIPTION:

This book describes the best subresultant method for computing polynomial, greatest common divisors and remainder sequences; the importance of Budan's theorem, and its relation to a theorem by Fourier; and the fastest existing method for isolating the real roots of a polynomial equation. Clear and detailed enough to serve as an introductory text, and current and thorough enough to stand as a reference. From the Publisher Computer algebra refers to the capability of computers to manipulate mathematical expressions in a symbolic, rather than numerical, way--which frees scientists f

A Customer said A book with lots of examples, but. This book covers mainly the elementary topics in the algorithms of computer algebra. The book has a lot of examples which make it much easier to read. However, comparing to existing algorithmic algebra texts, this book is not really covering many topics. For example, Grobner Basis is not in the book.

He has written numerous papers in the area of computer algebra. Akritas is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Kansas. Akritas earned his PhD in computer algebra/operations research at North Carolina State University. . About the author Alkiviadis G. Dr
