The Series is broken into two trilogies, plus a final book. Much of the story is set in Melbourne and in the State of Victoria at that time. She knows them all so well. She does not understand why the people in the Victorian saga seem so familiar to her. As Paula watches these events taking place on the Murray River in northern Victoria where the paddle-steamers are plying their trade, she is puzzled, because the places appear familiar to her, yet she has not visited the township of Echuca in this lifetime.
