This is nearly the perfect Hard Case Crime novel, a fun fast-paced guilty pleasure with plenty of over-the-top sex and violence.Kit Tolliver is the over-stimulated female version of one of Block’s other characters, John Keller from the Hit Man series. She is an unrepentant black-widow serial killer who seduces men only to kill them in exotic fashion afterwards. The story stretches credibility at times. Ho. Sex And The Single Serial Killer Jim Nesbitt A vastly different book from his Matthew Scudder novels and written from the point-of-view of a female serial killer, a risk for any male writer that Block manages to pull off. Both the sex and the violence are graphic, so this book isn't for the squeamish or prudish. But it's a well-told tale, which certainly isn't a departure from what I've come to expect from Lawrence Block.. The same plot over and over--she beds everyone who is The same plot over and over--she beds everyone who is interesting to her and then brutally and/or sadistically murders them. I stopped a quarter way through as it was redundant if not imaginative for the many ways the central character seduced and then killed her victims. Pyschopathically sleezy.
Crossing them off her list . Then she kills him, and she likes that even better. On her way out, she cleans out his wallet. Picking up their trails. SO THIS GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR and when she walks out there's a man with her. She goes to bed with him, and she likes that part. Hunting them down. She keeps moving, and has a new name for each change of address. She's been doing this for a while, and she's good at it.And then a chance remark gets her thinking of the men who got away, the lucky ones who survived a night with her.
