Not only are the current carousels detailed, but there are many lesser known carousels in this book, including lots of rare photographs. The book represents an interesting and never-before released history of regional carousels, including many rare and lesser known carousels. Besides Monroe County carousels there is also a mention of carousels outside the county, including Long Point Park (Geneseo), Roseland (Canadaigua), and others. In addition to telling the stories of the current carousels, author Linda M. Bartash traces the history of former local carousels through different states, countries, and to their present whereabouts. However, these carousels do not have to be forgotten. Many carousels that operated within Rochester, New York and beyond are long-gone. The book has more than 65 photographs.
