DESCRIPTION:
Sandra Flickstein said Master Composer, Master Guitarist. Intricate interpretations of Gershwin's music are presented by a smooth musician whose techniques add to the very soul of the sounds the composer recorded on paper. I could listen forever and not get enough. In addition, Howard Morgen is extremely generous. In addition to the CD, he provides the buyer with his book of Gershwin, which contains the music of his interpretations both in traditional form, and, for gui. Very bad print glupto I was very much looking forward to get solid and payable gershwin arrangements. But the print is soooo bad and blur, that you even can't read the numbers of the fingering. So bad!. "Anti-Christian Content" according to Joshua Garrett. After looking up the lyrics for Pieces such as "It Ain't Necessarily So" from Gershwins' musical "Porgy and Bess", I have found that he was very Anti-Christ. I understand that George Gershwin is held in high regard amongst many jazz musicians and the like, but the force behind most if not all of his compositions is deceptive and corrupting. Great melodies and changes, but for me it has a very dark cloud above it.
The CD features Howard playing the pieces on steel strings a la the great Joe Pass and Martin Taylor, although the arrangements can be played on nylon strings as well.. (Guitar Book). Sixteen classic Gershwin standards in sophisticated solo guitar arrangements exactly as recorded by Howard Morgen. Titles are: Bess You Is My Woman * But Not for Me * A Foggy Day * He Loves and She Loves * How Long Has This Been Goin' On * I Got Rhythm/Fascinating Rhythm * It Ain't Necessarily So * Love Is Here to Stay * Love Walked In * My Man's Gone Now * Nice Work If You Can Get It * Oh, Lady Be Good * Someone to Watch Over Me * Summertime * They Can't Take That Away from Me
