"Dedicated to the local community" according to Jon L Albee. Not a scholarly work by any stretch, this book brings to you the best of "Hunt Country" decor and society. The text is close to trivial, but the selection of sites and associated photography are interesting enough to keep the attention of a reader fascinated by Virginia horse culture.Architectural historians and serious enthusiasts should stay away. This book has "tourist wanting to understand local society" written all over it.. "Homes around Middleburg and Upperville" according to Dan Heath de Butts. Audrey does an excellent job in her work and makes the history and story of each place come alive. She does take advantage of the current owners help in writing the story but sometimes doesn't listen to their input . The history here is mostly right and you could write a report using this and be mostly correct. Sometime it takes an outsider to write a history and with others help make it what someone out of the area want to know about thos. "Great coffee table book" according to James Landfield. Great coffee table book. It has real information one needs to know. I just wish it was an ebook so it could be read and displayed more easily.
