This family saga based in Ireland keeps the reader on the edge of their seat as the tension builds, with plenty of background as life in Hong Kong amd Ireland is described. One suffers the anguish of a sixteen year old, and the distress of her mother at yet another failed relationship. Through it all the grandmother is a fine upstanding woman who has to have her favourite horse put down while her husband lies dying in the house. Strong characters, all of them, who eventually find each other. Another superb book from this author.. Expect the unexpected! An element of surprise sets this novel apart. Just when you are chugging along steadily, your world is turned upside down, when the character you thought you knew is not who she appeared to be.
