DESCRIPTION:
Richard M said Good index of Civil War tunes but be careful with the chords.. The index of songs is very good. The editing of the ukulele chords is poor. Be careful. Some of the chords pictured are printed backwards. Also in a couple of the songs the notes were printed incorrectly on the melody line.. "Civil war songs have authentic lyrics." according to Calvin D. Senechal. I like the older tunes with the older lyrics. This is a great collection. Many are easy to play if you've been playing for awhile. The melodies are beautiful. Some are in a high key. This is not for the rock and rollers. I am very happy with the price and with the purchase.. Five Stars Good
Includes: All Quiet Along the Potomac Û Aura Lee Û Battle Hymn of the Republic Û Dixie Û The Girl I Left Behind Me Û John Brown's Body Û When Johnny Comes Marching Home Û and more ä all in standard C tuning with notation tablature and accompanying lyrics. The book also includes notes on the songs and historical commentary and a handy chord chart. The Hawaiian ukulele can be traced back to about 1879. That's a bit late for the Civil War but had the beloved uke been around then it would have been perfect for playing for these 25 tunes of the era that boosted morale championed causes pulled on the heartstrings or gave impetus to battle
