About the Author Pelagatti; University of Pisa,
From Skeletons and Templates to Strucured Languages Half the book is a comprehensive review of parallel programming paradigms, skeletons and template based systems. Special care is taken about the hard mapping and scheduling problem with unrestricted graph based languages (to support the following work). The second half present the structured programming model they propose. It is presented as a natural extension of template systems to improve their flaws, but it goes further, with language constr
The main concern of this text is to introduce and examine factors which will improve general performance and program design in parallel computing. The material is presented in a tutorial style, examining a small number of parallel program structures and their performance characteristics. This is followed by a critical analysis of the state of the art in parallel software development. This methodology allows the programmer to evaluate design decisions before implementation and allow effective parallel program optimizations to be carried on at compile time. In the final part of the book some practical illustrations of this methodology are presented, covering a number of problem structures.. The central part of the text is the description of the P3L methodology for efficient parallel software development. This is a practical text presenting methodology for structured parallel program design
