Phillip J. Moore said Best bird book for Michigan. This is an excellent bird book. It itemizes observed breeding evidence of birds by township. It is very detailed and very well done. Excellent descriptions of each species. I also liked the intro. It provides bird habitat information such forest, wet lands, fields. Good history of the changes in bird species over time. Only weakness- it was written in 1991. In the past decade, several birds have expanded their territory (i.e. turkeys and bald eagles). If you live in Michigan and watch birds, this is the book to buy.This is a coffee table size book. Almost Five Stars It's an in-depth book about Michigan's birds and includes a lot of interesting information; however, the breeding patterns need to be updated. According to the book, several birds that frequent my feeders should not be in the county where I live. I do ebird counts for Cornell University (and read the data that others in my area submit), so I'm aware of what other birders find in this area, as well.Also, an atlas should include facts, statistical data, and charts. This atlas also includes personal opinions about why certain species populations are . Amazon Customer said Great book but somewhat dated. Great book, but published in 1991 and much of the breeding information is now out of date. Badly in need of a new survey and update.
