Peter May Spellbinder dannyg A most satisfying read by a master story teller. Combining an intriguing tale, with raw boned clarity and a climax to leave the reader breathless. The style and contents rush readers through a storm of emotion, real fear with twist and turns. The proof of the works quality is that at the end the reader is left empty knowing that end has been reached. A classic mark of a class work of art by a proven master. Peter May will stay on my list of authors works for more reading in future

May gives it an urgency that, by novel’s end, makes perfect sense. The reader knows that Macleod, against all odds, overcame poverty and bad schooling to win a spot at the University of Glasgow and that he threw it all away in his sophomore year and became a cop, a decision he’s regretted ever since. The isolation and desolation of Lewis is an apt metaphor for Macleod. Two
