If you know of anyone with trees and shrubs on their minds, this is a unique book for identifing Washington trees and shrubs. I give it four starts only because it could use more pictures to help in the identification of trees and shrubs. It is one of the easiest books to use. Very well done!. Nice book for price I'm glad I got this small, easy to carry book. It has lots of color pictures as well as interesting info on each of the plants reviewed. My only criticism is that there should be pictures illustrating the specific traits to look for when keying out a tree or shrub (they provide good written descriptions, but a photo would be EXTREMLY helpful).. Old Sage Wildwise I already knew most of the common species. I was hoping for the identification of more uncommon native species as well as the more common but widespread non-native species. Shrubs tend to be a neglected category in most plant identification manuals and I'm looking for more complete coverage. This manual is just too brief.

This book includes a brief introduction to trees and shrubs, descriptions of the ecological zones in Washington State and species descriptions
