Denial, deception, depression, and delivery from thoughts of suicide stare you in the face when you read Arnie’s story. As a friend of Arnie’s and a career Employee Assistance Professional, I relished the role that Jerryhis new boss at Jonathan Logan Dressesplayed in 1968 when he confronted Arnie about his gambling, pointed him in the direction of a twelve-step program, and ultimately set the wheels in motion for Arnie’s walk into the sunshine of recovery and his life of the past
Amazon Customer said Beautiful.. Being the daughter of a gambling addict I came to this book hoping for more information, something that could tell me why my father would choose gambling over my family, over me. Though it's not the ultimate answer, this book opened me to the truth of gambling addiction and the fight that likely happened with my father. I hoped to find something that could help me forgive and find compassion for the man who was my father (he has since passed away) and forgiveness for myself and others. Excellent read, Sheila's comments display the grace and forgiveness that can. "Hypocrite" according to Dan. When I was nearly 80% complete with the book the author talks about turning down money to stop his anti-gambling talks. Then after trouble finding new work the author takes a job with all the major casinos teaching them how to spot troubled gamblers. He admitted there was only one casino out of countless ones he worked for who actually refused business to an addict. So the addict goes on the casino's payroll to do their bidding. Hypocrite. No thanks. I quit reading after that. Waste of time.. Amazon Customer said More than just a great reada great recipe for success..
