An excellent affirmation A. M. Ramey An excellent affirmation of the struggles Christians face in their maturing relationship with the Lord. Amy Carmicheal's intimate relationship with the Lord clearly comes through in the wisdom she shares, wisdom that is obviously gleaned from personal experience. Using a sort of question and answer approach: His thoughts said(i.e. those of a Christian) and His father said (God's response to that Christian's struggle) Amy Carmicheal briefly addresses the ups and downs of the Christian life and gives great encouragment for difficult times and joyful times alike. I especially like it because it is not just an gooey feel good devotional. "A Devotional Gem" according to D. Rolston. I have read this book almost as much as my Bible this year! This is a devotional type book which presents questions that every child of God asks at some stage of their walk. The "questioner" grapples with issues of perseverence, rising above "the godless chatter of the world", salvation of friends, suffering, serving God despite physical limitations, patience, resting in God's will and death and heaven. The questions or "thoughts" are always met with God's sovereign and comforting reply. The issues and questions are obviously Amy's own and she has written this book almost as a personal journal of how God has heard her ponderings and r. "His Thought Said His Father Said" according to Emily Huntb. This book was tremendous to me in learning how to hear God's voice and in recognizing that God does speak individually to each of us. God's answers to her questions have also spoken directly into many difficult situations that I have faced.
