The rapid changes in surgical knowledge, as well as changes in exam question format, make a new edition quite welcome."--Doody's Review Service With 1000 USMLE-format surgery questions and answers, each with thorough explanations, and a bonus practice test, this resource provides an unmatched review of surgery

Quite possibly the worst review I've ever used Amazon Customer Unbelievably, almost criminally bad. If I could rate it with negative stars, I would. The errata is even useless. Here's my favorite mistake, from the (arguably most important) pretest portion (this is question 51):What is true of pepsinogen?A) Is a condition in which it is safe to leave microscopic disease at the cut edgesB) Shows favorable response to radiotherapyC) Has a 5-year survival rate of about 12%D) Rates are increased in patients with duodenal ulcerE) . "Terrible, Terrible Edition" according to Unhappy Med Student. Agree with the negative reviews above. Perhaps earlier editions were quality resources, but the 5th edition has frequent grammar and spelling mistakes, as well as explanations that are not related to the question. Also, in some Answers, the "correct" letter choice will be given, but then the explanation will support an entirely different answer choice. This book makes no sense, and I plan on taking it back to the store and asking for a refund/credit, because the. Samuel P. Robinson said Hire an ed'ter. Please do not buy this book. I honestly feel that the company should recall this book. Chapter five alone contains more than Hire an ed'ter Samuel P. Robinson Please do not buy this book. If you wish to stick with an Appleton and Lange book I highly suggest obtaining a copy of the fourth edition(printed before the passing of the original editor in chief) as it contains far fewer errors.
