DESCRIPTION:
Amazon Customer said Riveting story with some tech flaws and abrupt end. I received this book free for an honest review. It's my general rule that I won't accept a book for review without checking the Look Inside feature on Amazon first. I'm glad I did.The GoodDon't be fooled by the less than appealing cover. The story is riveting. It's a wonderful glimpse into a time of rampant racism and blatant abuses of power. Best of all, there's plenty of spirituality (the author considers it paranormal activity) . "Mysteries of the Deep South" according to QuietNoise. This is my first book by Kenneth Brooks and what an interesting read it is. The book maintains its own style for the length of it as it builds the tension throughout. The question of just what can Mama Lacee do stays with you and events unravel and her enemies start falling prey to strange afflictions. The baddies of the piece get a lot of attention though I feel that Mama Lacee was nicely underplayed, leaving something for the nex. "Hard to put down" according to justyn jaymes. I enjoyed the book and got caught up in the action. I wanted the ending to be different. All things didn't need to be resolved, but I felt that more could have happened before the book ended. However, people have said the same about Hitchcock movies. It was fun to get to know the characters, and I am hoping there will be a sequel. If you want a fun read for a great price, load this onto your kindle and curl up for a visit with Mama
It's the Twenties, Mama Lacee is in her 80's, she's been the local healer longer than most people have been alive, she's seen it allgood and bad.
