Amber said waiting. and waiting for something to happen, that's how I felt about this book. Though Melody Carlson is a good writer, this was the 'safest' Oregon trail book I've ever read, with only a few minor occurrences and little else. Book one in this new series seemed to focus more on relationships, romantic and interpersonal. A slower read, it ends mid-way through their journey, with promises for a little more danger in the second. This Is Going To Be A Good Series! I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow getting going but once it did it moved at a nice pace. The characters are well defined and we learn a lot about not only the main characters, but the members of the wagon train as well.Ms. Carlson does a wonderful job explaining to the reader what pushes Elizabeth Martin to want to make the trek from Kentucky to Kansas City in the 1800's along the Oregon Trail with all of the
