Laminated for durability, this handy guide is a great source of portable information and ideal for field use by novices and experts alike. Grand Canyon National Park is renowned for its spectacular geology, but within the 1.2 million acre park visitors will also experience seven life zones, three types of desert and an ecology that nearly rivals the park's impressive geology. This guide was updated in 2012 with a new cover design and a canyon-wide illustration featuring the geologic history of the canyon. This beautifully illustrated guide highlights over 100 familiar species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, trees, shrubs, wildflowers and fossils. Made in the USA.
scenicwonders said Light and compact, but not comprehensive. Wanted a compact guide I could stick in cargo pocket on hiking pants for day hikes during Grand Canyon river trip. This guide worked well for that purpose - light and compact, easily accessible. The downside is that I could only use it for about half the the plants and animals I saw - the rest were missing. Buy a more comprehensi. Stop, drink water, enjoy the view, learn! Dana Durable folder, laminated, yet light-weight. Basic, easy to see and read while on the trail. Fun way to add to your Grand Canyon hike.
(3 1/2 X 8 1/4 folded, opens to 22 X 8 1/4, color illustrations). This guide provides a simplified introduction to species that are familiar, widespread and/or unusual in the Grand Canyons. Each pocket-sized, folding guide highlights up to 150 species. Each is laminated for durability. From the Back Cover Field Guide to the Grand Canyon, an Introduction to Familiar Plants and Animals is a must-have reference guide for beginners and experts alike
