The central theme of the anthology is the beauty found in sorrow and the darker sides of human nature, drawing on literary traditions such as the 'Damned Poets', the Decadent Movement, Symbolism/Surrealism and the Fin de siècle.  Melpomene is broken into four sections: Liber Veneficium (Book of Magic), Liber Maeroris (Book of Sorrow), Liber Fatum (Book of Fate), and Liber Mortuorum (Book of Death). Each section contains both new and classic literature dealing with these themes. Alexander Carle, Bill Noble, Marg Howlet, Ivor Steven and Gene Banyard. Melpomene is a collection of poetry, prose and short fiction named after the Greek Muse of Tragedy

I remember how much I loved poetry and prose in high school because it was a such a challenge to find the true meaning behind the poems and literary works. Melpomene is a great collection of works that are filled with sorrowful and beautiful poetry. I think it's fitting that it's named Melpomene a. A Lovely Read Bookish Gal 4vr As a lover of poetry I truly appreciated the format of this book the mix of long prose and short fiction was well structured and edited. The words flowed beautifully across the pages and I was able to the simply take them in and absorb. Being able to find the thin sliver of light in the darkness is a gift that I think the author possesses. Instead of feeling down and saddened because of the dark words
