DESCRIPTION:
Excellent for what you get, but. Excellent transcriptions of some quite obscure blues songs. A range of styles are covered, and thus a range of techniques. Unfortunately, there's no tuition as regards the differing techniques necessary - only (partial) transcriptions. And here is where the collection is a letdown. These are not complete transciptions of entire songs - often there is only the 'intro', first verse and (if deemed interesting enough) a solo or 'middle section'. For some of the songs transcribed, this is fine: they are repetitive with only slight changes throughout, so the material offered will allow. Gordon said The absolute best. Along with John Miller's Country Blues Guitar Collection, this anthology has to be the best, most comprehensive country blues sheet music book available. Even the vocal melody line is included - a very rare treat indeed. Unfortunately no CD of original recordings is included, but given the book came out in 1993 and has not been reprinted I'm now in the process of creating my own CD soundtrack from my own library. Great collection with John Miller's book James A Robinson This is an excellent collection of transcriptions, and to there's no real crossover with John Miller's Country Blues Guitar collection, so I recommend both these.
Thirty-four important blues songs by Charlie Patton, Blind Blake, and Jimmy Reed, plus classics like Traveling Riverside Blues. Includes standard music notation and tablature and vocal line lyrics.
